Raphaela Bardutzky lives and works as a freelance author and dramaturge in Munich. She studied dramaturgy, philosophy and literature at the Bavarian Theater Academy August Everding and the LMU Munich. She then worked as a script consultant and editor in the art house film sector, including for the film distributor Prokino.
In 2016 she founded together with Theresa Seraphinthe “Netzwerk Münchner Theatertexter*innen” – an alliance of writing theater makers. Her play “Wüstling” was awarded the Munich Literature Scholarship in 2017.
Her play “Fischer Fritz” was nominated for the Heidelberg Stückemarkt in 2021, received the audience award at the Munich Kammerspiele for the Förderpreis für Neue Dramatik and was one of the winning plays at the Autor:innentheatertage at the Deutsches Theater Berlin in 2022. The play was also recommended for translation by EURODRAM and is now available in French and Polish. It premiered in June 2022 at the Deutsches Theater by Schauspiel Leipzig under the direction of Enrico Lübbe. In September 2022 her play “Das Los” directed by Catrin Mosler premiered at Theater Lübeck, which deals with class differences in hotels. She took part in the Remmidemmi Festival at Theater Heidelberg in October 2022 with “Das Licht der Welt”, a play about climate activism.
In addition to her writing work, Raphaela Bardutzky enjoys realizing independent theater projects as a dramaturge, such as the documentary-performative evening “REQUIEM?”, at the Nationaltheater Mannheim (director: Clara Hinterberger, 2018) or the eight-part theater series “Münchner Schichten” (2019), which was performed in collaboration with 3 different directors and 8 authors at various locations in Munich.
Since 2019, she has also been part of the curator team of the LIX reading series, which takes place four times a year at Theater HochX. She is also involved in the Independent Reading Series Association for meaningful structures and fair payment in the independent literature scene. In this context she published the volume “Reihenweise. Veranstalten in der Freien Literaturszene” in 2022.
She regularly gives workshops and taught “Writing for Film and Theater” at the Institute for Theater Studies at LMU Munich from 2018 to 2021.
