Elise Wilk was born in 1981 in Brașov, Romania.
In 2008, she received the Romanian drama prize “dramAcum” for her first play “It Happened on a Thursday”. Since then, her plays have been staged both in Romania and abroad and have been translated into 10 languages.
In Romania, her plays have won the Irish Embassy Bucharest Prize for Young Playwrights (The Green Cat, 2013), Play of the Year (Paper Aeroplane, 2015), Monodrama of the Year (Crocodile, 2017), among others.
She has taken part in international programmes such as the Forum of Young Playwrights at the Wiesbaden Theatre Biennale (2014) and the Hot Ink playwriting programme in New York.
Elise Wilk is one of the most frequently performed playwrights of the young generation in Romania.
Elise Wilk is part of the Fabulamundi. Playwriting Europe network and took part in the symposium “Is writing an activity, carrer or therapy? – Female perspectives on contemporary playwriting” in 2020.
Within the project Entgegnungen she wrote the play “Entgegnungen”.
